“I tried a pair, and I liked it”

I’m not going to bury the lead. Katy Perry Shoes are a 9.5 and not just because I’m a Katy Perry fan. Her shoes deserve the high score because they are everything I look for in fashion — a unique, one-of-a-kind statement piece. If you buy them you will definitely get asked: “Where did you get those shoes?”

There are some critiques of her collection and I’ll get to those in a minute.

But first, I have to admit, I’ve been a big Katy Perry fan for years. Matter of fact, the second concert I attended was Katy’s California Dreams tour in 2011 when I was 8 years old. Then three years later, I attended her Prismatic World Tour.

I’ve always loved Katy’s music and her attitude — fun, playful, creative, brave yet sweet. But her style has always blown me away. She’s so distinctly unique with her bold sometimes leaning toward bizarre hair, outfits, accessories and shoes. So when I learned she was starting a shoe line, I wasn’t surprised.

This is one of my favorite designs:

The Leon ($189):

The Leon ($189)

A lion in a cage as the heel of a shoe — I instantly fell in love. Even though The Leon is one of my favs, I ordered The Celina and The Editor because they were a better fit for certain outfits. Both are fantastically unique.

Overall Impression

I felt both shoes were comfortable, quality made, light, gorgeous completely standout. The heel is actually higher for both shoes than it looks so make sure you are comfortable with high heels.

The Celina ($129) in metallic sterling pink:

The Celina is for the most part a normal pump but the heel is shaped like the profile of a face. Like The Leon and The Celina, like many of Katy Perry’s shoes feature a heel that is truly a dramatic piece of artwork. So The Celina can easily be worn with jeans and white t-shirt, a funky outfit or with a suit at a business event. The heel is 3.9 inches. I found them to be very comfortable but I also like and wear 4 inch heels often.

The Editor ($129) In Pink:

The feather and the color, pink satin “makes” the Editor. It is called pink but the color is more of a blush and therefore, consider it a nude that could be worn with almost any outfit. The heel is 2.9 inches. I wore this with a black cocktail dress and my shoes definitely stole the spotlight. I got so many compliments.

COMPLAINTS

I’ve been reading Katy Perry shoe reviews and I’ve noticed three basic complaints.

  1. Too high, making the shoe uncomfortable. This is true, some of the heels are high but I think if you are used to wearing 3–4 inch heels you will find them comfortable. Katy Perry Collections does feature heels that are just as unique with a lower heel: The Jo, The Pop, The Lorenna, The Aileen and The Lisa pumps all have a 1.9 inch heel. Katy Perry has also designed a lot of flats and sneakers.
  2. Too “kitschy”. Again, this is true for some of her shoes. But that’s a part of what makes Katy’s style unique. There are alternatives though. Katy named a shoe after Hillary Clinton called “The Hillary”. It’s a lot like The Celina, a traditional pump with a nontraditional heel.

3. Too expensive. I disagree and that’s why I added prices on all the shoes I featured in this blog post. They may be a little pricey compared to some celebrity brands but if you compare them to any high-end brand they are extremely reasonable. Katy’s shoes range from $49 to $199. Her shoes are truly artwork like Miu Miu and Alexander McQueen, which can cost thousands, so her prices pale in comparison. Right now, there is a $15 off coupon if you go to KatyPerryCollections.com Plus you can find items on sale there and on Amazon and Zappos.

So Bottom Line

Katy Perry’s shoes are more than a Teenage Dream, I think women of all ages will love them Unconditionally.
